Most of time we think of the rose as simply a beauty plant to be enjoyed in the garden, but it has many healing benefits as well. You can enjoy an aromatic rose bath, give your skin some luxury with home made rose oil or simply to make a delicious jam.

Selection of jams

Only use roses that have been grown organically and have not been treated with any kind of chemical.

The best part is that this recipe is very simple, the preparation time is about 25 minutes, but the taste – beautiful!

  • 250 grams of pink or red rose petals
  • 500g of sugar
  • 5 glasses of water
  • fresh juice from two lemons

How to make it

Cut off the white tips from the petals, they can give a bitter taste to the jam, rinse and dry.

Place them in a bowl, sprinkle half the sugar so that each petal is covered. Leave the rest of the sugar for tomorrow. Leave the mixture overnight.

The next day, cook the rest of the sugar, water and lemon juice and mix until the sugar dissolves. Add rose petals and simmer for about 20 minutes. Bring to a boil and cook for 5 minutes until the mixture thickens and remove from heat.

Pour the jam into sterilised jars, leaving about 3cm from above. Apply labels and store in a cool place.
