Ingredients

  • iceberg salad (optional, I like mine with some salad)
  • black olives (Kalamata olives)
  • 200g feta cheese (1.33 cup)
  • 2 tomatoes
  • half red onion
  • 2 cucumbers
  • corriander (optional)
  • chilli (optional)
  • 4 teaspoons olive oil
  • salt, pepper and oregano

How to make it

  1. Using a sharp knife, cut each tomato in half. Next cut each of the halves into four equal sized wedges.
  2. Cut cucumber into thick slices.
  3. Arrange the tomato wedges, sliced cucumber, iceberg salad and chilli if you using, and olives in a salad bowl.
  4. Dice the feta cheese and add to the bowl. Pour the olive oil and season well with salt, pepper and oregano.
  5. Toss the salad well together. Serve with naan or pita bread.
  6. Greek salad ingredients should be the best quality. There are not many of them so it’s worth trying to make each ingredient taste delicious itself. Greek salad is a dish in which we use feta cheese. In many grocery stores we will find original Greek cheese, we will recognise it by the EU quality mark on the packaging and name. The original greek cheese we can call “feta” whether others are designated as salad or feta type cheese.

All the ingredients for a greek salad take out from the fridge an hour before making the salad. Like this they will reach room temperature and be tastier.
