Focaccia is a type of Italian yeast bread served as an appetizer before the main course or for breakfast. It is popular all over the world. In Italy itself, it comes in different varieties. Every region can boast of its own version.

Focaccia is basically a pizza dough without the sauce and cheese. It’s really a very simple and quick way to eat something nice and as additions we can add whatever we want. It will also be a great substitute for bread, fluffy dough and great taste, simply salt and olive oil and focaccia ready to eat.

  • 600 grams of plain flour (3 cups + ¾ cup)
  • 380 grams of water (1 cups + ½ cup + 1 tbsp)
  • 20 grams of olive oil (1 tbsp + 1 tsp)
  • 5-7 grams of dry yeast (1 pack)
  • 1 pinch of sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt


  • 1 onion
  • 20 grams of olive oil (1 tbsp + 1 tsp)
  • 2 teaspoons of salt
  • olives (optional)
  • rosemary (optional)

How to make it

  1. Firstly add flour into a mixer, add 320 grams of water (1 cups + ¼ cup + 1 tbsp), olive oil, dry yeast and sugar and knead the dough with a dough hook for about 2 minutes.
  2. Then add salt and the rest of the water (60 grams or ¼ cup) and knead for another 2 minutes.
  3. Pour 2 tablespoons of olive oil into a bowl and put the dough into it, cover with a cotton cloth and let it rise in a warm place for 20-30 minutes. While the dough is rising, preheat the oven to 200°C (392°F)
  4. In the meantime, prepare the onions, slice them and sprinkle them with 2 tablespoons of salt and mix with 20 grams of olive oil.
  5. When the dough has risen without kneading, put it into a greased dish or baking tray, pour the previously prepared onion and put it in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.
  6. Optionally, you can add olives and rosemary or any other ingredients.
